Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me, I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. John 15.4-5
The Body of Christ is a living breathing organism that is the greatest living entity on the face of the earth. The more we are connected with the body of Christ the more life it will breathe into us because we are connected. Jesus is the vine and we find him in the body of Christ. It's more than just coming on Sunday mornings although that is a good start. It's making the body of Christ a priority in your life. Then we in turn can breathe life into those to whom we touch - our spouses, our children, our church, our community. The more time we spend the more life we generate.
So let's prepare ourselves for the winter. You know by the time winter ends many of us are so depleted and worn out. We get so tired that we then begin to disconnect with the body when the body is where our life is hid. With school starting we can now decide what our priorities and what our schedules are going to be probably far more than we do at the first of the year.
Everybody talks about having quality family time but if you are not healthy spiritually it doesn't matter how much time you spend with your children, you can't give them what they need because what they need is for you to be spiritually healthy. And you are spiritually healthy when you are connected to the body of Christ.
When the chapel began, the ladies would get together once a month - it was called Ladies Circle and 20-25 women would meet every month. In that tradition, on October 18, we are continuing Girlfriends Circle at 5:30pm. Our hostesses this month will be Kathy Wedgeworth and Rose Crouthamel meeting at Kathy's mile 88.2 across from Willow Lake. During this hour and a half we will be connecting with one another through friendship, accountability and prayer. There will be no ladies small group studies so I want to challenge every woman out of high school to set aside this time to give a gift to yourself and your family to grow as a woman of God. As you connect with the body of Christ, I know God will breathe life into you and you will be rejuvenated and refreshed.
